Our Trip To Manti

A few weeks ago we were able to go down to Manti, UT to visit with family and help celebrate Felipe's Grandparents 60th wedding anniversary.

On Sunday, after church, we were able to walk around the grounds of the Manti Temple. It was so fun to take pictures and enjoy the beauty of the Temple.

We really enjoyed spending the weekend (and week before and after) with Felipe's momma!

Good times all around - as you can tell by the awkward picture of Felipe...

We stayed at the "Manti Motel" which was interesting to say the least. The office was also a movie rental store, a pizza restaurant, and an ice cream parlor. The motto of the motel was "Drop your mail in any of our mailboxes and we guarantee postage!" exactly what I imagined a motel motto to be...

If you noticed we totally forgot to get pictures at the wedding anniversary party so...  if anyone has any fun ones we would love to see them, maybe you could email them to us?? Have a great weekend!

Experiencing Utah

This summer I really want to experience all that Utah has to offer. I realized that I may not like Provo, but there are some pretty cool places in Utah to visit. Here are some things that I really want to do as soon as possible:

-Hike to Timp caves
-Hike or mountain bike on trails near Salt Lake
-Bridal Veil Falls
-Zions National Park
-Bryce National Park
-Arches National Park
-take pictures downtown Salt Lake
-Alpine Loop
-the Great Salt Lake (and Antelope Island)
-Price to visit Sally (Felipe's sister)

Is there anything I missed?

March is here!

One thing I really have come to dislike is February. The last few years it seems like I am tortured during the entire month! Let me explain...

If I could wear flip flops all year round I would. As you can imagine, winter in Utah doesn't make that task easy. So I suffer through winter, which generally starts in October. By the time February rolls around I am sick and tired of the cold.

BUT... it is March now!!! Today just felt oh so warm (probably only a few degrees warmer than yesterday). I am ready to go shopping for some flip flops, anyone want to come?!

A Baby! Not for us.....

UPDATE!!! We went and saw Eileen and the baby again today, both are doing very well. The baby is out of the NICU and as of 8pm monday night she will not be attached to any more machines! The baby (still un-named) is SOOOO cute! We both got to hold her but forgot our camera! We took some with Eileen's camera, we will post when we get those pictures.

Well, Eileen had her baby today. And apparently it's my job to update everyone. Eileen is just fine. The baby is good. It was a girl and she is in the NICU. She had meconium in her lungs so that needed to be taken care of. Doctors checked for infections and other stuff and they just wanted to take precautions to make sure the kid will be healthy. Hence, we were not able to take pictures.

Our lives are okay and mostly boring and I can't think of anything to post about us. Sorry. So I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

New Job

So I started a new job today. I will be working Tues nights from 4:30 - 6 pm. I am tutoring the coolest middle schooler here in Provo. It is perfect because I will be able to save up some extra money for some fun things (like my hammock yoga class next week). Don't worry... I'm still teaching at Orem Jr. High.

I haven't heard about next year - if I have a job or not! Hopefully things will work out. If there isn't a job at OJHS most likely they will transfer me within the district.

We are also looking for a place to move in August. That will be part of my summer goal...

Over all things are going great here at the Sanchez house. We are mostly working, eating and sleeping. We both are teaching 4-H this semester. I'm teaching "Dessert Cooking" and Felipe is teaching "Soccer."

That's all the exciting news for us now. More pictures later I promise (Felipe's job is to post about the Jazz v. Blazer game)

Love you all!

Here are a couple of pictures. Though the Blazers lost we still had a good time.

Valentines Day Crafts

So I have become creative with the help of my awesomely amazing sister! (ok so mostly she did this with a little help from me). Here are my exciting decorations for the up-coming heart day:

banner that says "be mine!"

the decorated plates that are always in my kitchen (just a little more valentines-y now)

our lovely brown door with some vinyl decorations (it also has hearts all over which didn't make it in the picture)

It isn't much but at least our dull apartment looks a little more exciting now! Happy Heart Day (and long weekend!)

I am the best wife ever

This whole week I have had a head cold and it started going into my chest yesterday. EVEN though I was sick I still got up and made homemade syrup and waffles for my lovely husband. (mostly because he went to the store to get me some medicine). I used Felipe's mom's recipe for syrup and then added some butter to the bit we used today. It was SOOOO amazing! Anyways after making this amazing food I was thinking maybe I should start a recipe blog. Would anyone read it?

Winter Snow

Let me start by telling you how much I hate and abhor snow. If I could live in flip flops and t-shirts everyday I would, which is not even close to possible in Provo.

Ok - on to the real story. We went to a movie with friends last Friday. When we went in the theater there was not even a flake of snow in the air, but when we came out there was about 3-4 INCHES on our car! In about an hour or so! Well at this time I discovered I may like snow but just because it looks cool in pictures:

Some berries on the tree outside our apartment.
Snow fireworks on a pine tree.

Felipe freezing his buns off posing for a picture (isn't he so handsome?)
The end. I still hate snow and cannot wait for spring, but at least I got some cool pictures!

Felipe lied...

So my lovely husband lied. On the last post he noted that everything was good in the Sanchez household. Well... I guess life if good in our house - but somewhere in West Jordan / Taylorsville life is not as good for me.

Someone stole my wallet last Saturday night. They took my driver's license, social security card, 3 debit cards, a check book, about 100+ in cash and gift cards from Christmas... etc!

Somehow my debit card was connected to my credit card from the same bank, and even though I've canceled the debit card they could still make purchases charged to my credit card... Overall they have used about $450+. Luckily my bank takes care of all these charges, but I still get the headache.

AND - I also spent like 3 years trying to find the perfect wallet that fit my needs... and it was stolen. At least I got a good year from it.

OK enough venting! Felipe has been great by the way! he has been driving me around (since I have no license), paying for everything (since I have no access to money), and being awesome like normal!

For the lack of pictures

Things are going good in the Sanchez household. Both Krys and I are having computer issues so getting pictures to the internet has not been fun. So I apologize not having such recent pictures lately. But I hope these will do. Back in November we scored some free tickets to a Real Salt Lake playoff game. That was barrels of fun.

We took a trip to St. Louis for Christmas. It was lots of fun. It wasn't too cold or too snowy which was nice. We're now back in Orem/Provo doing the whole work thing. It's a new semester for the students and beyond that there is nothing really exciting is going on. I hope you are bored with our lives. We'll make sure to liven things up soon. But we do wish everyone a happy new year and all that jazz.

On top of the world (or at least a mountain)

So about two months ago we went 4-wheeling or "quatro-wheeling" as our spanish speaker CJ said. It has been one of my goals in life to stand on the top of a mountain. Well I accomplished this goal on Labor Day! We were able to 4-wheel to almost the top then we walked the rest of the way. It was steep and kind of scary since it was so high up. (I could barely breathe)
(me, felipe, CJ, Jason, Trisha and Nick) on our way to the top

(Krys and Felipe) Almost at the top right before we had to get off and hike to the top!

Our view of the top of a mountain!

I think it was an amazing experience and a wonderful view!
Now to complete the rest of my goals in life...

Maxx?

Krys put in her two weeks notice at the TJ Maxx. Yes, she is finally giving the place up. Be happy, we are.
