Fireworks

For the Fourth of July we did a few fireworks. Here are my favorite pictures!

Currently the background of my computer:

Felipe was a great firework starter. I tried to light a few but he was much better than me :)

I'm so excited that firework season is coming to a close. Maybe I will be able to fall asleep before midnight tonight (hopefully my neighbors will stop shooting off a million bazillion fireworks)!

My weekend was mostly boring

Around Christmas our old TV decided to no longer function at an optimum level. Since we've no longer been using that one we decided to get rid of it. Now just throwing it away wasn't going to do.
This is out in the middle of nowhere near Helper, UT.

I'm holding a gun. It's a 410 shotgun. Really, I'm telling the truth.
That's after a few shots.
I'd say a job well done.
On the right where the cable cord plug should be. I shot that. Yeah, that's a sweet aim.
It was Grants idea for me to pose like this. This was well worth the sunburn on my neck.

Math and Art : Proportions

Since one of my great friends is the art teacher at Orem Jr. I wanted to try to incorporate art in one of my lessons. I gave students a square-inch piece of paper and had them "enlarge" it to a 4-, 5- or 6-square inch paper. Here are the results:

A climbing gecko.

A skate-boarding alligator - or - is it a crocodile?

A tiger. It reminds me of the Calvin and Hobbs comic.

A monkey. I like this one. It's my third favorite!

A turtle. My second favorite!

The Jaguar Face Mask that the kids all learn about warm and cool colors with. The Jaguar is our school mascot.

The Jaguar mask. My favorite.

I love being creative at school! if you get bored try it at home! Just make sure you label the inch squares so you know how the final pieces fit together.

Quilt for a friend

So I got crafty and made a baby quilt for my friend who decided to have a baby. Since she helped me so much this year in my classes, I thought it would be much better than just getting her a cookie or something!

I searched up and down like 50 pages of Google Images until I found one that I liked. I think the person who took the picture called it "Sprinkles" although I have no idea who that is! (If you find out let me know and I'll get them credit for the idea.) I changed it a bit to fit what I wanted and I loved the result. I loved it so much I almost didn't give it too her, but I figured I didn't want her new baby to get cold in Arizona... well, it seemed like good logic I think.

Here are some pictures I took along the way:

The front of the quilt, draped over my ironing board.

The back of the quilt, draped over my ironing board as well.

Quilting it at my friend's mom's house. Thanks Stephanie and her mom!

After it is quilted and bound.

Up close of the quilting. I love the square/ rectangle design.

The back quilted. I LOVED the back!

All folded up ready to give to Allie. I had some extra binding material left so I sewed it up and tied it in a bow around.

I am now addicted to quilting. I have two more ideas ready to go and, thanks to my MIL, I have most of the material.
